The managing Director of Chocho Industries limited has expressed his concern about the difficulties that confront small scale business operators during clearance of imported goods form the port.

According to Alhaji Ibrahim Boateng the nature of clearing goods at the port consumes part of the resources of small scale businesses.

In an interview with Joy Business report in the Eastern Regional town of Suhum, Alhaji Ibrahim Boateng called on the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and other bodies to ensure that all stakeholders perform their duties to save the small scale businesses from collapse.

In response, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Oscar Kudjo said some importers fail to secure all documents covering their goods, causing delays.

He said clearing of goods at the port involves different bodies whose activities are linked, hence the need to identify the particular body responsible for delays. Oscar Kudjo added, the GPHA is ready to assist any organization facing challenges to ensure smooth running of activities at the port.
