Nkoranza District has recorded progress over last year's results of the Basic Education Certificate Examination, with the 988 out of the 1,824 candidates who sat for the exams this year obtaining passes.
The pass mark of the candidates made up of 639 boys and 349 girls represented 54.38 per cent as against 46.2 per cent in 2008.
District Education Examination officer, Mr. John Kofi Amoah, disclosed this at Nkoranza, during a meeting with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza North, Major Derek Oduro (Rtd).
According to Mr Amoah six out of the 57 Junior High Schools in the district scored 100 per cent.
He called on school management committees and parent teacher associations to support the conduct of mock examinations to prepare students adequately for final exams.
The MP commended teachers in the area for their hard work and urged them to continuously help improve the standard of education in the area.
He praised the District Directorate of Education for its effective supervision that he said had helped to improve the academic performance of students.
Major Oduro said he is arranging incentive packages for the schools that scored 100 per cent and promised to provide all the Junior High Schools in the district with computers to enhance the teaching of Information Communication and Technology.
