Joy 99.7 FM, Ghana’s most popular radio station, on Thursday marked a spectacular carols night service at its premises at Kokomlemle.

The programme held on the night of December 24 every year attracted an array of personalities spanning all sections of society – politicians, bankers, human rights activists etc.

The nearby street occasionally went gridlocked as guests drove in, in their numbers, to participate in a show that promised abundant blessing for its participants.

The programme started off with beautiful Christmas songs powered by a set of gleaming musical instruments mounted on the podium. Several verses of the Bible were read. Host of Front Page Kwaku Sakyi-Addo said the first verse.

For most of the guests present, it was time to give expression to their innermost responses to a year-round outpouring of divine favour.

Joy FM senior pastor, Rev. Jonathan Otibu gave a sermon that challenged Ghanaians to focus on their Creator as they go about their daily life activities.

He said the new year promises new challenges, and for that matter, new opportunities that the people must take advantage of.

Rev. Otibu said Ghanaians must place God first in all their endeavours.

The message, it seemed went down well with guests as they danced ceaselessly to the fine musical tunes from the Team Youth Choir and other singers present at the event.

Perhaps, what stood out as the toast of the evening was Joy FM’s Matilda Asante’s “carols night regalia” – neat jeans trousers worn with a coffee top, giving her an informal look, very unusual of her.

Lunch Time Rhythms host Doreen Andoh who stood a few metres behind Ms Asante was simply happy. She had been dancing to songs that presented a little departure from her usual hip-hop, hip-life and rmb mixes.

Dayo Akwasi-Sarpong, senior editor and host of Joy FM’s News File programme was also present to show off what he could do, at least, with his arms.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, host of Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, and a few others were also present make the programme a big success.
