The ‘Abodam’ crooner did not renege on a promise he made a couple of weeks ago that he was going to bounce back on the street, where he was motivated to take music as a career.

Last Wednesday, the rapper who is still in court over a suit against him for allegedly defrauding his ex-girlfriend of about £7000 took to some streets in the capital city to launch his third album titled ‘Give Way’ to his street brethren via a big float.

Kwaw was chauffeured in a convoy of police escorts, a fleet of huge pickup cars, one of which served as a mobile stage on which he performed at some joints to the admiration of all.

Among the convoy was also a select of Ghana’s showbiz media. A lot of young women and men fans, most of whom appeared unemployed, followed the rapper’s convoy throughout the float. Most were those who hailed and praised the man who calls himself “King Of The Street,” chanting “abodam! abodam! abodam,” while he waved back.

The abodam wagon took off from the Achimota Overhead through to Lapaz, Kwashieman, Odorkor, Kaneshie, Kokomlemle and Nkrumah Circle.

The wagon which made stopovers at various joints for Kwaw to perform and sign autographs ended at the Holy Gardens, where he and supporting artistes as X-Doe and Okra thrilled fans.

Kwaw Kese, in an exclusive interview with BEATWAVES after the day-long event, said his being on the street was not to sell his new album but to encourage his friends on the street not see the street as their last stop.
Kwaw believed his image could motivate his friends to also do something positive and make it in life rather than stealing and snatching of phones; he hoped to encourage the youth not to give up hope.

Kwaw explained that his 12-track album featuring international heavyweight Wyclef was titled ‘Give Way’ to appeal to the older generation to give the youth the chance to showcase their skills in building Ghana.

However, he denied using the album to reply his critics and people he had problems with within the year. “Problems and critics make one grow, and if I focus on those things, they will let me down. I have seen a lot and heard a lot.

This is a ‘Give Way’ album, urging people to give way for new ideas and new developments. It is not against anybody,” he told this reporter.
