Ghana’s rap ‘Doctor’ Okyeame Kwame is due to leave Ghana tonight, Wednesday 28 October for South Africa where he has been nominated for this year’s Channel O Music Video Awards to be held at Carnival City in Gauteng on Thursday 29 October.

Okyeame Kwame in an interview with Myjoyonline said he will be leaving Ghana tonight and will be back on Monday November 2.

He said his main aim is to pick the awards he has been nominated for and to network with the artistes coming to the event to see how he could penetrate the South African market.

“I hope to establish some contacts there. I may go back to South Africa in December or have some of the artistes come over here for collaboration,” he said.

Okyeame Kwame received three nominations at the Channel Video Music Awards with his ‘Woso’ video. He has been nominated for; Most Gifted Hip Hop Video, Most Gifted West African and Most Young Gifted & African Award.

He is also billed to perform at the Big Brother Africa eviction show on Sunday November 1.

Another major event for Okyeame Kwame is the KORA Awards coming up later in December where he has been confirmed to perform there.

The ‘Doctor’ says he hopes to make a nomination there and even win an award or two.
