The first edition of the ‘High Vibes Festival’, a celebration of highlife music and the arts will take place from the 12th to 15th of November 2009.

The festival which is put together by Contemporary African Music (CAMP) in collaboration with the French Embassy, Alliance Francaise and UNESCO and with the support of the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture and the Ministry of Tourism will begin with a one day seminar, exploring the evolution of highlife, exhibition of original photographs, images, albums and artwork from the history of Ghanaian music at the National Theatre.

The event is billed to see exciting performances from both local and international artistes like; King Ayisoba, Ramblers Band, Takashi, Gyedu Blay Amboley, Amandzeba, K.K. Fosu, Agorsor and Kwabena Kwabena.

There rest are; Saintrick (Congo, Senegal), Kamaldine (Guinea), Gangbe Brass Band (Benin), Seun Kuti (Nigeria) and Miatta Fahnbuleh (Liberia).

Music lovers who will throng the event venues, the Holy Gardens, National Theatre and the La Pleasure Beach will definitely witness exciting performances.

To maximise its reach and penetration, this year’s ‘High Vibes Festival’ will centre on six main activities namely; Newspaper Build-Up, Festival Brochure, Exhibition, Symposium and Performances.

The high point of the event is the performances which will start from the 12th to 15th of November, it will comprise both free and VIP events which will bring together some fine artistes and musicians from the sub-region in an explosion of music.
