The Nigeria's House of Representatives has been petitioned over the death in questionable circumstances of a Nigerian in Italy.

The deceased, Emmanuel Ngozichukwu Ajoku Benedict, an indigene of Imo State, was allegedly murdered by some Italian security operatives.

In a petition addressed to the House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs, the late Emmanuel was allegedly thrown out from his fourth floor apartment by two policemen who broke into the building on October 23, 2009 in Padova, Italy.

According to the petition signed by a representative of the deceased's family, Mr. Celestine Amaefula Ajoku Benedict, the family received the report of the incident on Friday, October 23, 2009. "I received a call from Padova, Italy from a friend telling me the demise of my blood brother, a younger brother by name Emmanuel Ngozichukwu Ajoku Benedict, whom I was told that two policemen broke into his apartment and pushed him out from the fourth floor of his apartment for reasons not made known to me. I am writing to inform you that I, on behalf of my family, do humbly need your assistance in bringing those culprits who forced my younger brother to die prematurely into judgement,” the petitioner wrote.

The petition said the death of Emmanuel has brought a lot of pain and sorrow to the family and raised serious concerns that the incident was capable of creating a lot of emotional harm to close relatives of the deceased.

The family appealed to the House to intervene in the matter by conducting an investigation into the death of the Nigerian.

The Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa who confirmed receipt of the petition disclosed that the matter was of urgent public importance and may be brought to the floor tomorrow (Tuesday) for necessary consideration and action.
