Municipal and District Assembly members in the country would soon be provided with motorbikes under a package initiated by National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana to solve their logistic challenges.

The Wa Municipal Assembly has therefore by resolution agreed that the deductions be made from its share of the Common Fund for the payment of the motorbikes.

Mr Iddrisu Adams, the Presiding Member of the Assembly made this known at the second ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Wa.

He gave the assurance that the bikes would be ready for collection before the third ordinary meeting of the Assembly this year.

The Presiding Member appealed to the Assembly Members to educate their people on the need to ensure peace during the electioneering and voting periods.

Mr Abdul-Aziz Mohammed, the Municipal Chief Executive said a committee had been set up to investigate and overhaul the entire revenue machinery of the Assembly and put in measures to improve its revenue fortunes.

He said the Assembly is among nine Municipalities and Districts in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions that have been selected for the preparation of the Human Development Report.

The Report, he explained would attempt to identify resource endowments, investment opportunities and assess the Millennium Development Goals to serve as basis for the preparation of community action plans.
