Court remands mason

A Takoradi Magistrate’s Court on Thursday remanded Yaw Mensah 30, a mason from Assakai near Takoradi into prison custody for allegedly assaulting his 27-year-old girlfriend, Gladys Kwaw, for demanding money for the maintenance of their two children.

The accused pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on November 17.

The prosecution told the court that on October 22, this year, Gladys a trader went to the accused to collect money to buy food for the children.

He said when the accused saw Gladys he became offended and assaulted her.

The prosecution said Gladys reported the incident to the police, the accused was arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
