A circuit court in Kumasi has sentenced a 19-year-old boy to 25 years imprisonment in hard labour for armed robbery.

Prince Osei, who pleaded guilty, was convicted on his own plea.

Police Chief Inspector Nana Fosu, told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey that, the complainant, Akwasi Poku was a trader and lived in the same house with his mother-in-law, Hannah Osei at Anwomaso, a suburb of Kumas.

He said, in the afternoon of October 14, 2008, Osei armed with a locally manufactured pistol entered their house and ordered them to surrender.

Chief Inspector Fosu said Osei matched the two into one bedroom, locked them up and entered the sitting room where he picked two mobile phones; Siemens and LG and four bottles of wine and bolted.

He said the complainant made a report to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Police.

Chief Inspector Fosu said On October 23, 2008, the convict was spotted at Anwomaso by the complainant who arrested him and handed him over to the police.

In his caution statement, Osei admitted the offence and led the police to retrieve the locally made pistol and five live BB 12 Bore cartridges.

He also stated that he sold the items to unknown people.
