Residents of McCarthy Hill are living in fear following the gory murder of one of its residents on Saturday.

Kwame Kyei Apenteng Mensah, 65, and a business man was found dead in his bedroom with deep cuts around his neck with the room flooded with blood.

Residents who spoke to Joy News said the murder has heightened the state of insecurity in the area and called on the police to increase patrols.

One of the residents blamed the rise of crime to land guards who he said have been thrown out of business of protecting lands and have now resorted to armed robbery.

"Some of the land guards now their work is finished so they don’t have anything to do. They are jobless. So we believe those people are doing that," he said

According to him, a white lady was killed in similar circumstances last year.

Another resident also claimed armed robbers attacked four houses in the area and took away all their valuables just last two weeks.

They are demanding a pronounce security presence in the area.

Meanwhile, the Regional Police Commander, Rose Bio Attinga said her outfit would get to the bottom of the murder. She would not disclose the current state of investigation into the matter.
