The action was on the directive of Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, the Miniser of the Interior.

The six were arrested soon after the incident by the combined team of police and military for their alleged involvement in the destruction and burning of houses.

Dr. Addo Kufuor, during an assessment tour of the Gushegu and Tamale ordered the transfer of the suspects to Accra for prosecution.

Whilst in Gushiegu, the Interior Minister pledged that the government would not spare anyone found culpable of breaching the peace.

He said that government had become tired of the frequent disturbances in the north and would ensure that those behind the latest incidents were dealt with.

He appealed to the people to co-operate with the security personnel keeping the peace in the area..

Last week's clash at Kpatinga near Gushiegu between the NDC and NPP during a flag raising ceremony spilled over to the Gusheigu town leading to the loss of three lives and destruction of property worth several million of Ghana Cedis.
