A Municipal Civic Educator of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in the Kwahu West Municipality, Mr Kofi Agyare Boateng, has called on the media to educate the electorate with the necessary information on the electoral process to ensure the success of the forth-coming general elections.

He urged media houses not to allow social commentators and other political opponents to use their medium “to rain insults, attacks and insinuations on their opponents and other electorates”, which could lead to political violence before and after the elections.

Mr Boateng said this when he led a team of NCCE Officials to undertake an educational programme under the theme “political tolerance”, in over 20 communities and in the Nkawkaw municipality.

Some of the communities he visited included Kwahu Daa, Aweregya, Fodoa, Apradang, Yaw Korkor and Ampeyoo.

He noted that “politics is not a dirty game as being portrayed by some people”.

Mr Boateng said it was the constitutional right for every Ghanaian to join a political party of his choice, irrespective of his tribe or religion.

Mr Osafo Kantanka, of the NCCE, advised political parties to educate their supporters to respect and tolerate their opponent’s views to ensure peace in the country, during and after the December general elections.
