The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Ebenezer Sekye Hughes, on Friday appealed to the public to refrain from acts and utterances which could derail the peace and unity in the country.

The Speaker said whatever the majority decision may be in relation to the presidential election runoff, the interest of the nation must be placed above all other interest.
Rt. Hon. Ebenezer Sekye Hughes said these when he welcomed Members of Parliament into the House when it reconvened on Friday.

He said a number of activities have been outlined for the dissolution of the 4th Parliament of the 4th Republic and the subsequent inauguration of the 5th Parliament.

There were only 21 MPs in the chamber at the commencement of proceedings around 10.00am. The Speaker adjourned sitting at 10.15 after which members had a close sitting.
