Dozens of student supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have converged at the premises of the Human Rights Court in Accra in solidarity with former Foreign Minister, Akwasi Osei-Adjei.

He was due in court Friday morning to make a case for his passport to be given back to him after it was seized by the security agencies.

Members of the students’ wing of the NPP, known as TESCON, say Mr. Osei-Adjei is being persecuted.

Joy News reporter Samson Lardi-Ayenini who caught up with the students said they held placards and chanted war songs.

“We believe in accountability, we believe in the rule of law, we believe in justice but we don’t believe in political vendetta,” a member of the group said.

Filing of Mr Osei-Adjei’s passport suit preceded another case in which he has been charged by the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) for causing financial loss to the state.

The case with the BNI is in connection with the importation of rice from India into the country by the previous Kufuor administration.

Mr Osei-Adjei is said to have presided over the transactions, on the part of Ghana.
