The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the party forbids any member from campaigning ahead of its national delegates' congress.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has yet to decide the exact date on which to elect new executives but officials of the party say it should be in December.

Ahead of the national congress, however, the party is organizing constituency and regional elections to elect leaders at those levels.

The processes have not gained much media attention but general secretary of the party, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, says they are not ready to overspend on unnecessary publicity.

“We don’t make too much noise about our internal processes so when branch elections are taking place we don’t spend too much time making publicity out of it,” he said.

Whilst some party members are nursing the idea of contesting various positions at the national level, Mr Asiedu Nketia says the party forbids anyone from campaigning ahead of the national exercise.

He said although it is yet to kick off regional elections, constituency and branch elections are almost complete.

Mr Asiedu Nketia said the party hopes to finish off these elections by November this year before it goes to congress, possibly in December.

The NDC general secretary also played down suggestions that problems confronting the party in government are making it difficult to organise the congress.
