This year's Tafo Open Golf Championship tees off at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana’s (CRIG) Golf Course at Tafo in the Eastern Region on Saturday, November 8 and on Sunday, November 9.

Dr Francis Oppong, Captain of the Tafo Golf Club who announced this in Accra on Monday, said the two-day 36-Hole Scratch event, which is open to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country, will be sponsored by U.T. Financial Services.

He said golfers with Handicap 18 qualify to play but those with Handicap 24 may play to Handicap 18.

Dr Oppong said about 150 golfers are expected to participate in the competition which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association.

Among an array of golfers who have so far registered for the competition include Charles Tabi, Robert Evans, Michael Aggrey, Paul List, Theophilus Gouvinus, Matthias Dorfe and Michael Ben-George, all of the Achimota Golf Club.

There would be prizes for the 'Longest Drive on Hole 18' and the 'Nearest to the Pin on Hole 17'.

Mr Prince Kofi Amoabeng, Chief Executive of the U.T. Financial Services, who is also the President of the Tafo Golf Club, would present the trophies to the winners.
