The departed General Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Richard Avornyotse, will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 22, at his hometown, Kpando in the Volta Region.

According to arrangements made by the family, there will be no wake-keeping, the body will however be laid in state in the early hours of Saturday, November 22, at house number TNW-A064, Tsakpe New Town near the Ghana Telecom Office at Kpando.

The family source said burial mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Kpando, at 9:00am, with internment at the Gadza Public Cemetery, Kpando, followed by a reception and family gathering at his residence in Kpando.

A statement signed by William Ezah, Deputy General Secretary of SWAG said arrangements have been made for members to be conveyed to Kpando for the burial and final funeral rites.

The statement said members of SWAG interested in attending the funeral are to contact the secretariat at the Ghana News Agency (GNA) or call 0244-685639 for the necessary arrangements.

Members desirous to attend the funeral at Kpando are therefore requested to converge at the premises of New Times Corporation at 5:00 am on Saturday, November 22 for departure to Kpando.

The statement asked that all members should endeavour to attend the funeral as the Association pays its last respect to its late General Secretary.
