Ghana international Habib Mohammed is eyeing a return to the Black Stars after an improved performance with the local side in the CHAN qualifier against Nigeria on Sunday.
The 23-year-old was a regular left-back for the Black Stars at the 2006 World Cup in Germany but lost his place due to unsuccessful stints abroad and a threatening calf injury.
Last season he played for the then newly-promoted Wa All Stars before switching to AshantiGold this term.
Habib is counting on his goodish output against Nigeria last Sunday to chart his way back into the national set-up for next year's final round 2010 joint qualifiers.
I'm ready to get back into the national team. It was difficult for me but I have overcome it and looking ahead, Habib told Ghanasoccernet.com
I have signed and the club's ambitions and my performance can move me forward. I know I belong to the team but I will have to work hard to achieve it.
The Black Stars have struggled for a permanent left-back in recent times. Harrison Afful has been without a club since ending his contract with local side Kotoko.
Bayern Leverkusen's Hans Adu-Sarpei also lacks the requisite match fitness after returning from a long injury lay-off.
