18 Stars to camp for CHAN final lap

The technical handlers of the local Black Stars have invited 18 players to camp for the final round second leg clash with the Super Eagles of Nigeria billed for Abuja on December 14.

The squad is largely dominated by members of the team that beat the Nigerians 3-2 in the first leg at the Ohene Djan Stadium last Sunday.

A statement signed by Emmanuel Gyimah, Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has directed the invited players to report at Novotel on Thursday, December 4 at midday.

The squad is dominated by league champions, Asante Kotoko with 10 players.

Heart of Lions follow in that order with three, Ashantigold – two, and the trio, King Faisal, Fetteh Feyenoord and Liberty Professionals contributing one player each.

The players are Fatau Dauda, Habib Mohamed (Ashgold), Samuel Inkoom, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Ofosu Appiah, Godfred Yeboah, Jordan Opoku, Alex Asamoah, Eric Bekoe, Kojo Poku, Francis Coffie, Mark Sekyere (Asante Kotoko) and Awal Mohamed (Fetteh Feyenoord).

The rest are Daniel Yeboah, Edmund Owusu-Ansah, Emmanuel Ansong (Heart of Lions), Yaw Antwi (Liberty Professionals) and Osei Boateng (King Faisal).

The draw for the competition reserved exclusively for local-based players has been fixed for Friday, December 26 Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire with the finals scheduled from the same country from February 22 to March 8, 2009.
