A group calling itself the NPP Zongo Pioneers are calling for fresh investigations into the corruption allegations of the resigned Sports Minister, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak.

Abdul Basit Rahman, Secretary to the group at a press conference in Kumasi on Friday, alleged investigations into the allegations were inconclusive and discriminatory.

National Security investigations cleared Alhaji Mubarak of all 17 charges of corruption and abuse of office, but reprimanded him for indiscretion.

The embattled Minister resigned hours before the release of the full report of investigations, ostensibly to end weeks of heated controversy, but the Zongo Pioneers believe the report is not detailed enough.

According to Basit the report failed to investigate persons who were cited for other acts of corruption raising concerns of ethnic discrimination.

He made reference to the trip to Ivory Coast embarked on by the minister and some business men including Deputy Chief of Staff, Alex Segbefia.

The minister was alleged to have collected an amount of $10,000 in lieu of landing rights incurred on the trip and later paid to the Deputy Chief of Staff.

Abdul Basit said the final report lacks credibility, alleging, persons within the ruling NDC are not satisfied with the final report.

He also condemned the actions of supporters of the embattled Minister who were on rampage destroying properties at the party office in Asawasi in the Ashanti Region.
