Former Black Stars player, C.K. Akunnor’s reputation is growing as a coach in Ghana but he says trying to build a career in coaching is a frustrating experience.

The former Black Stars stalwart is keen to lead a trend where Ghanaian players with many years at the top level of European club football can give back to the game through coaching but admits the process can be a bit too difficult and frustrating.

“It is very, very hard,” the former Wolfsburg captain told KickOffGhana.com. “I’ve lived in Europe for a very long time so there are certain things I can’t handle and certain things I do not understand.

“We are always moving five meters, five meters backwards but I am learning. It’s frustrating but this is our system and I understand but hopefully with time things will change.”

The frustrations notwithstanding Akunnor’s Sekondi Eleven Wise have looked strong, fit and composed under him and club insiders say he is doing a terrific job at getting the best out of the players.

On Wednesday they marched runaway league leaders Accra Hearts of Oak in a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Ohene Gyan Stadium and preserve his unbeaten record against the top two sides in Ghana football.

He hopes performances like that will aide his rise to the pinnacle of Ghana coaching.
