Liberty Professionals chances of reaching the next round stage of the Wafu club championship has been helped after drawing with Nigerian side Sunshine Stars in the first round stage on Sunday.

Goals from Latif Salifu, Kamil Isaah and Kassinu Ghandi improved the Dansoman-based side's qualification chances as they drew 3-3 in Akure.

Liberty would host the return leg in Accra in a fortnight and would have to avoid defeat and a high-scoring draw to advance to the next round.

Liberty entered the competition by virtue of placing fifth in the 2007/2009 league season.
