Black Satellites Captain Andre Dede Ayew says “he is a player like every player” and whatever notion Ghanaians have about him does not affect how he plays.

“Whatever people say, I want to fight for my nation,” he stressed.

Dede Ayew said this in response to a question posed to him at a press conference on Monday at the MPlaza Hotel in Accra.

He thanked the Coach, Sellas Tetteh, for the confidence he put in the team as well as his colleagues, including those who sat at the bench throughout the tournament.

“I have a lot of gratitude for my colleagues, we fought together. Even those on the bench were supportive,” he added.

Dede also thanked the government for getting the team’s bonuses to them on time, not forgetting the support from the whole continent with special emphasis on Egypt.

Coach Sellas Tetteh also expressed his admiration of the captain, saying, “What his father could not do, his young boy has done it.”

He added, however, that “No team has been this consistent, wining three tournaments in a stretch…Anyone who has found himself in this team should be proud.

As part of activities to celebrate the satellites’ victory, the players are floating through some streets in Accra and there would be a concert later in the day.
