The Ga Mashie Development Agency (GAMADA) has launched the Kpanlogo Musical Fiesta to revive the country’s music and dance industry.
The Kpanlogo Musical Fiesta forms part of programmes outlined to showcase rich Ghanaian culture to delegates and tourists who would take part in this year’s World Tourism Day celebrations in Ghana in September.
The Minister of Tourism, Juliana Azumah-Mensah disclosed in an address read on her behalf by Mr. Victor Hagan, a Director at the Ministry of Tourism that the launch of this initiative is part of efforts by the ministry to showcase Ghana’s rich culture to the world.
Mrs. Azumah-Mensah said diluting Ghana’s culture to have western semblance amounts to lack of appreciation for local culture and must be discouraged. She, therefore, called for the preservation of the true Ghanaian culture to promote domestic tourism.
She said the Ministry has planned to make music and dance a core part of products to be revitalized to attract patronage and improve on the country’s tourism potential.
The Minister also stated that her Ministry is shifting from relying on one product area by adding other activities and products to develop the industry.
Therefore, she has called on all Ghanaians to preserve, protect and adopt moral values and standards that make the Ghanaian a unique person.
